Bond with your Child

When verbal communication is difficult, finding meaningful ways to connect with your child can be challenging. Music can provide profound connection, and home practice time can become a bonding experience.

Notice skills carry over

Piano lessons give students with Down Syndrome the opportunity to participate in a fun extracurricular activity that is not therapy but has striking benefits. Studies show that musical instruction has a positive impact on the brain. Piano lessons develop mathematical and spacial understanding, coordination, fine motor skills, and more.

See improved self-image

Providing an encouraging, developmentally-appropriate approach allows students to experience success. Seeing hard work pay off in lessons and at performances allows students to develop a positive self-image.

Encourage good work ethic

Learning an instrument takes significant effort and consistency. As parents sit down with students daily to reinforce skills, students develop a sense of discipline. Seeing their hard work pay off makes it well worth the effort!

What Parents are saying

"We weren’t necessarily sure that this was something he was going to be able to progress in, but it’s very clearly a huge benefit in his life, so I’m really thankful. Melody’s love for music and the piano is clear. It has been wonderful to see our son thrive in the environment that she provides."
Mother
"He just loves it. And you just love to see your kids love something. I think he’s as excited as Melody is when she’s teaching. An unexpected result from taking piano lessons was that learning rhythms and coordination for music has been extremely helpful for other things that he does."
Father

“There is music in every child. The teacher’s job is to find it and nurture it.” — Frances Clark.
